Over 100 people attended the Band's inaugural Whisky Tasting Trivia Night at the Hobart Function and Conference Centre on Hobart's waterfront.

The evening commenced with a taste of four very different whisky's presented by Lark Distillery. MC Wayne Gatward kept the evening moving along with his masterly control of proceeedings.

Three rounds of trivia questions, plus an anagram solving puzzle, covered a diverse range of questions. Most of us didn't know that ipod (as a word) didn't stand for anything, although most of us knew that 'Hotel' was the word used for the letter H.

One of the highlights was the kitchen piper contest, hotly contested by Matt and Nathan (CoHHPB), John and Jared (Launceston) and Heath (Burnie). The performances were keenly supported by the audience. The pipers had 4 minuites to show their stuff, and they all dazzled us with their playing. The judges were Garry Fletcher (technical) and Wayne Gatward (atmospherics) and the winner was declared to be Jared. Well done, Jared! The 5 pipers then retired to a back room to practice a brief "group" performance which included the popular tune "Pumpkin's Fancy".

The local band "Manhatten" provided music to dance to whilst the bar did a brisk trade towards the end of the evening.

Thanks goes to the Hobart Function and Conference Centre who advised that supper would be a "casserole" but we ended up with at least 8 tasty options.
